This was a great concert, despite the terribly bad thunderstorms that hammered down throughout the entire night and forced everyone to evacuate before R.E.M. took the stage.  In the end, it turned out to be another incredible R.E.M. show, with many nice surprises tossed in, not the least of which was ITEOTWAWKI.

Because of how bad the weather was, there was no real encore.

Despite the noisy rain and thunder, the audio on this recording sounds very good.  We were in about the 10th row, right in the center.  In between songs, you may hear what sounds like old-time LP record hiss and crackle.  That was the RAIN hitting the umbrella!

I hope you like this, my very first Dime torrent.  I will also be recording Philadelphia and NYC this week.  Stay tuned!

Thanks!

Timeline notes: Lightning struck one of the towers which forced the evacuation of the theater and shortened Modest Mouse's set. R.E.M. came on at 10:10pm after a lengthy rain delay. Johnny Marr guests on guitar on 'Fall On Me' & 'Man On The Moon'.

Notes:
-Setlist Highlights: So Central (2 promo, 6 tour), 1,000,000 (4), Welcome To The Occupation (7)
-Before These Days MS notes the band considered doing I'll Take The Rain but "a seven minute song it kind of plodded" and asks if everybody is wet.
-MS before WTFK? "Maybe you're from Jones Beach and this happens all the time. I have to say I wish to god we'd signed the Kyoto Protocol a few years ago.  This is stupid. But you guys are really brave to sit here through the rain.  You look like a bunch of garbage bags."  He adds they will play 20 more songs and if any weather updates are needed he will pass them along, then "I'n not wearing my suit like I usually do.  It's my first show without a tie on, but this is what I looked like walking up 6th Avenue, so there it is.  One more thing, if I, or any of us fall on our ass I want you all to say 'I told you so'" and leads the audience in a practice run.
-Before WTTO MS notes the various songs about the Reagan/Bush/North political era.
-MS breaks up laughing and doesn't finish the last line of Electrolite.  He gives his shirt to a wet fan.
-Before Supernatural, MS announces "this is the encore" and paints a dramatic picture of what it would have been like.  After the song he passes out Obama t shirts.
-MS states ITEOTWAWKI is unrehearsed and indeed the end is botched.
Before intros, MS notes he stopped himself from stealing a move from The National.
