R.E.M
21 November 1986 - Bayfront Center, St. Petersburg, FL

I won’t make any claims for the quality of this one, but I’m posting it for two reasons:

1. Somebody requested it.

2. As far as I can tell the fullest version of this show hasn’t really been circulated to collectors, most tapes and CDs end after Eight Miles High.

This is probably for the completists among you, and for those people I will say this: The first 7 tracks are pretty decent sounding, then the levels (and consequent distortion) go way up and I think it sorts itself in the middle of Superman, and then it’s not too bad right up to Fall On Me, which is pretty unbearable particularly during the chorus. I hope I’ve listed all the cuts and drop-outs, but it is what it is folks, if I missed some of the faults I do apologise. Samples attached below so you can see what you’re getting into.

If you have a better version of this, please don’t hold back on my account.

notes: Roger McGuinn guests on So You Wanna Be A Rock'n'Roll Star and Eight Miles High, he’s also name-checked after Crazy as well, so perhaps he jingle-jangles along with that as well.

Grade: A
-I am not 100% sure the above text file goes with these CDs, but the tracking and cuts match.  Even with the noted flaws in this show, I still rank it higher than the 'master' version below

I believe I was recording with a Sony D3 and Crown PZM mono mic
I was sitting in the back seats, not much higher than the stage, facing Peter.
My right hand man was Lance, thanks dude.
I wanted to get up front for the last song so I walked and recorded my way to mid floor.
My playback deck is a Nak CR-5A with azimuth adjustment.  Learn how to adjust the azimuth, it takes seconds and can bring out the highs. I also played back without Dolby and bias and EQ on normal setting. The tapes were once already used Maxell XLIIS’s, sorry.

Grade: B
-Barely.  Boomy low end.

Timeline notes: Roger McGuinn guests on 'Shaking Through', 'So You Wanna Be A Rock'n'Roll Star' and 'Eight Miles High'. Peter Buck & Mike Mills joined Let's Active for their cover of Deep Purple's 'Hush' on their opening set.

Notes:
-A Girl Like You is played before Tired Of Singing Trouble (not listed on master version).  After the song, MS "well that was charming, wasn't it?"
-Before Tired Of Singing Trouble, MS talks about a singer named (?) Jackson and stealing a song from her, then in the next sentance claiming that the song came from the dark recesses of his mind, then admitting the chorus came from the dark rcesses of (?) Jackson's mind.
-BB launches into an intro that is decidedly not Superman, then realizes his mistake and stops.  MS teases him afterwards.
-Before Old Man Kensey, MS starts to tell the story of the Hungarian who lived in Arizona, but he changes course and tells the Kensey in a coffin at Kmart story. "scared the shit of them every time".
