Stereo AUD master to Maxell METAL tapes
Borrowed mics > Borrowed Sony WM-D6 > Master METAL tape > Computer WAV > Cool Edit 2000 > TLH v2.4.1 > FLAC 8 > DIME > you
I don't have the specific model for the mics, but the buddy from which I borrowed the gear (thanks K!) said they cost approx. US$500.
Mics were physically separate left / right channel lines which fed back to a single stereo line into the deck.
The left / right lines were either pinned over each shoulder facing stage, or pinned to left/right sides under an open-holed baseball cap.
I originally mastered this 2003-01-07 & retained the original WAV fileset.
I did a little normalization on the computer to offset for high volume at the start.
Beyond that, I think the only thing I did was place track marks before each piece.
This FLAC fileset comes directly from those final WAVs's, which only needed SBE corrections in TLH; no CD-Rs or EACs.

As this is an original master & isn't too bad to start with, please DON'T remaster and repost it.

Notes:
-MS after Driver 8, "They have dogs in Iceland". Before Flowers Of Guatemala, he points out a poster in the lobby he feels the audience should read.
-Stereo does a weird bit of shifting During Hyena, as if taper is looking around. Sound also gets a little muffled briefly. Also some mic noise here and there.
-After I Beleive, MS talks about taking down some Miller Beer banners that apparently adorned the stage at some point, giving his opinion on the product, then doling them out as souvenirs & commenting on Gene Loves Jezebel.
-Before Cushy Tush, MM: "Every night we do this...and (laughing) every night it gets worse". After the track, MS introduces Curtis "He's mighty helpful sometimes". He goes on to clarify that he was not bad-mothing Gene Loves Jezebel, referring back to the banners.
-MS's rambling Little America intro includes a story about Caroline's cars breaking down. He mentions her dad's car dropping an axle in the middle of a highway, and "He was never heard from again". I don't know if this was intended or coincidence, but this is exactly the fate that befell D Boon in December of the previous year.
-Before Oddfellows Local 151, MS: "...Marty, that's a little suggestive, don't you think? This is a fmily sho here. You know I just want everyone to know here that we're not into subliminal suggestion..."
-Before Sloop John B, MS:"You guys that are like 10 feet back...hold on we are having a personal conversation...wow, that was like, really undecipherable". After the track he says "We're doing this for that boy Evan...and his brother. He's 4 years old. Did they come tonight? They're here. Did they have to leave? It was bedtime right? These guys are really young and they like the line about "the birdie in the hand" so they came down to soundcheck...and we played it for them. Oh there they are! kind of sleepy but still hanging in there. Probably much more...nevermind".
-MS changes keys in the middle of After Hours "Let's change keys" and PB works his way into the new key like the pro he is.
-After a few shows with little to no commentatry from MS, he is back to his chatty self for this one.
-Unfortunately someone near the taper had a penchant for yelling out homophobic slurs pretty much any time MS was talking. Just as a warning if you have little ears around...they are quite clear. This same person calls out for a Black Sabbath cover at one point.
Grade: A
-Touch of mic noise & the occasional stereo shift do not take away from a fantastic recording.
